Starting in Wisconsin back in 1976, Trek Bikes has plenty of experience in the bike building game. They’ve since expanded their ebike development across the United States so that everyone has access to their fantastic products. While certainly not the cheapest type 1 ebikes we’ve seen, they are worth their cost.
The motor is a Bosch Performance CX, magnesium motor body, 250 watts, 85 Nm, 20mph, or 32km/h max assist which offers a ton of power and assistance to the rider. This bike has a Bosch PowerTube 500 battery for plenty of mileage on one charge.
As this is a type 1 bike with a max speed of 20MPH you can ride for almost 50 miles on one charge.
The frame is an Alpha Platinum Aluminum for extra protection and durability. It’s quite strong yet perfectly maneuverable. The spokes are stainless steel and offer a tire size of either 27.5×2.35” or 29×2.30” depending on your bike size. The shifter is a Shimano Deore M4100, 10 speed for plenty of versatility.
You can choose from the XS, S, M, L, XL sizes which cover a height range of 4’5″ to 6’5″. The suspension forks are customizable, but this bike is a hardtail suspension bike. The colors available range from Lithium Grey/Trek Black; Factory Orange/Lithium Grey; Matte Solid Charcoal/Matte Miami.
For many type 1 ebikes, you’re getting a slight assist that is just enough to take over when you start to tire. With the powerful motor and battery on the Powerfly, you’re assisting the bike when it gets tired. This is a fantastic ebike with a strong, yet easy to handle frame. Perfect for any light bikers.
