Batch Bicycles might not sound like a brand with age-old wisdom into biking. Yet, they are owned by Huffy who has been in the bike game for 126 years. Based in Dayton, Ohio, Batch is dedicated to using only premium components to create the very best electric bicycles. Designed in Ohio, but manufactured in China, every Batch bicycle is guaranteed to last. While Batch Bicycles offers a full range of electric bikes, today we’ll be focusing on the E-Commuter E-Bike.

Let’s get down to what makes the Batch Bicycles E-Commuter E-Bike 2020 a good option. Priced at $2,199.99 and available in matte metallic charcoal, this model is priced middle-of-the-road, meaning it is accessible without sacrificing quality components. Like many models in this range, the E-Commuter E-Bike is a pedal-assist commuter bike. Unlike competitor models, it features a top-of-the-line Bosch motor. The Bosch Active Line Gen 3, 250W motor can help to reach speeds of up to 20 MPH. The bike itself consists of a 6061 aluminum frame with an aluminum fork. It features a Shimano Altus, 8-Speed shifter and an FSA threadless headset.

In terms of battery, you’re getting a Bosch 400Wh W/Abus Lock that can charge in as little as 6.5 hours. There is a minimum range of about 30 miles and a maximum range of about 80 miles. This is perfect for a commuter bike, as you won’t have to charge throughout the day. The E-Commuter contains a Shimano Altus 8-Speed Drivetrain and a cassette with an 11-32 tooth gear range. This makes it perfect for urban and rural settings. For safety, Batch included Tektro hydraulic disc brakes. Stopping on a dime is easy, even in less than ideal weather conditions.

For added maneuverability, Batch thought to include double-wall alloy rims with paired formula hubs. With Kenda Kwick Twenty 5 Sport Tires, you won’t have to worry about a pesky flat or hole. Plastic fenders and a provided rear rack allow you to ride in wet weather while carrying any and all gear.

For a mid-range bicycle that can get you from A to B, the E-Commuter is a solid option. Though it may not be quite as powerful as some commuter bikes, the Bosch components and included features earn our top marks.
