PROS:
  • Impressively, the Café Cruiser is compatible with Ride1UP's passenger kit. This allows you to exploit all that power by riding with a passenger sitting on the rear of the bike. Alternatively, you can carry loads with the rear rack rated to 130lbs with pannier side mounts.
  • Cafe Cruiser owners love that their bike comes with Zoom hydraulic disc brakes. This makes a change from other electric bikes in this price range, as most of them come with mechanical disc brakes. These hydraulic items are powerful and precise, helping you stay in control.
  • In addition to its versatility, the Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser is a super comfortable electric bike to ride. Its plush comfort cruiser saddle, adjustable seat post, and swept-back handlebars provide a relaxed riding position.
  • Comfort is enhanced by the large volume tires and a suspension fork with 80mm of travel. These reduce the vibrations transferred from the road into your upper body, allowing you to ride for longer in comfort.
CONS:
  • The main downside of the Cafe Cruiser is its weight. At 65lbs, this is not a lightweight electric bike; therefore, carrying it or loading it onto bike racks may prove challenging. However, you shouldn't notice the weight while riding.

The Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser is a well-priced and very capable electric bike. It looks great and will take you to your destination in comfort and style.

Ride1Up has design houses in both California and China, but they are a purely online business. This excellent electric bike manufacturer focuses on efficiency and quality, so they can provide affordable but high-performing ebikes.

The Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser is a sub $1,600 electric bike built for comfort and carrying cargo or an extra person.

To ensure the Cafe Cruiser has enough grunt to transport extra weight, Ride1Up has fitted it with a Bafang 750W rear hub-mounted motor. This motor has 60nm of torque, which also helps with riding uphill.

This punchy motor is powered by a 48V 15ah Reention Rhino battery loaded with Samsung Cells. The result of this combination is a 30 to 50-mile range, depending on the profile of your journey and how much weight you are carrying.

The Cafe Cruiser is a class 3 electric bike, giving you a top speed of 28mph. Thanks to the DMHC Sine-wave controller, you get 9 levels of power assistance.

Ride1Up builds the Cafe Cruiser from a high-quality aluminum alloy. This helps to keep the weight from tipping the even scales further, but it is also incredibly durable and corrosion-resistant.

You can buy the Cafe Cruiser with one of two frame styles. The XR has a regular top tube, while the ST has a step-through frame. The step-through version allows you to get on and off the bike more manageable, especially if you wear long and flowing clothing.

The Cafe Cruiser comes in three lovely colors, blue, light grey, and dark grey. All of which look great with the flowing lines of the bike.

The motor is hooked up to a Shimano Acera 8-speed drivetrain. This is made up of tried and tested components from a well-known manufacturer, another indication of the Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser’s excellent build quality.

Ride1Up only ships within North America, but shipping is free within The Continental United States. There are extra costs for shipping to Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada.

When you compare the Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser with the Trek Navigator, you will see that the Navigator is a similar shape with a relaxed riding position. However, it has considerably less power from its 250W motor, no extra load carrying capacity or suspension. It is also much more expensive.

The Trek Navigator is a class 1 electric bike, so if you cannot legally ride a class 3 in your area, it might be a better option if you can afford it. However, the Ride1Up Cafe Race is better value for money.

The Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser is a well-priced and very capable electric bike. It looks great and will take you to your destination in comfort and style.
